Homemade Paloma and Spicy Margarita, so easy you can add it to your regular summer drink menu.
So Cinco De Mayo is on Saturday this year and I bet there are a lot of people ready to spend their weekend celebrating. In comes the perfect addition to your weekend, nay, your summer, we would like to present the Paloma and the Spicy Margarita! These drinks are so perfect we can’t even pick a favorite. I was crazy excited for the task of creating the perfect drink to celebrate the weekend and also to segue right into that summer heat.
First lets talk spicy margarita. It was basically so good I had trouble with having enough patience to take pictures for this post instead of diving head first into the glass. Problem solved, I made two. Drink one take pictures of other one. Nailed it.
I honestly almost have trouble explaining over the internet, one: how good it is but also how I don’t think I need to convince you how awesome a margarita on a hot day is. Even better make the margarita hot too, then hop into the lake in an inner tube and enjoy. Or that is at least what I plan to do once it gets a bit warmer here. My favorite thing about this is the combination of spicy and refreshing. The lime mixed with the hot peppers, so good.

- 1/4 cup fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
- 1 tbsp fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1 ounce tequila
- 1 tsp agave
- coarse salt if desired
- 1/4 cup club soda
-
Rub 1/2 of glass rim with grapefruit wedge. Roll/dip in coarse salt
-
In shaker add grapefruit juice, lime juice, agave, tequila and some ice. Shake until chilled and well blended. Pour into glass over fresh ice. Top with club soda.
-
Stir before drinking
If you don’t have the time or want to make the effort you could always use Squirt in place of club soda and also could use bottled grapefruit to replace the fresh squeezed. I am all about this fresh option for the transition into summer. I can just imagine how perfectly refreshing it would be on a hot sweaty day of doing nothing but laying in the sweet sunshine.
