Cream Cheese Spritz: Jump to Recipe
It is so hard to pick a favorite holiday dessert. They are kind of like children that way. So I am not going to try and choose a favorite kid I will instead share with you all of our holiday traditional cookies/desserts. That way we can all be indulgent together. Cream Cheese Spritz cookies are soooooo amazing. They are absolutely the perfect amount of sweet with just a hint of that distinct cream cheese flavor
these will be so hard to only have one or three or whatever feels like a good limit for you…Not that I always take three cookies at a time. That is not what I’m saying.
Using a spritz press is not always the easiest so if you choose to go that route here are a few helpful hints. When you are holding the press make sure you hold it high up near the handle, your hand will warm up the dough and if the dough gets too warm you will end up frustrated and moving on to plan B. Which definitely has happened for the Pot of Gold team. If your spritz are really not cooperating in the press or if you simply don’t have one and don’t want to go out and buy one. Well here is a solution to that. We take the dough and roll it into one big log and cut it into cookie sized slices. Problem solved. This would also totally work for our Chocolate Spritz recipe as well.
- 1 cup butter
- 3 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp vanilla or almond extract(I use almond)
- 1 dash salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups all purpose flour
-
In mixing bowl, add butter, cream cheese, and sugar. Mix on high or cream by hand until well blended.
-
Add egg and vanilla or almond extract. Mix well.
-
Add salt, baking powder, and flour. Mix just until well blended, but do not over mix.
-
Put 1/2 of the dough at a time into cookie press machine. Place cookies on clean cool cookie sheet. Sprinkle with colored sugar of your choice.
-
Bake 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until edges are just starting to brown.
-
Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheets and remove to cooling rack to completely cool. Enjoy!
Enjoy any time off from work you may have this holiday season. Make sure to hug your family and friends extra tight. It is important that we are reminded to do this at least once a year. So stuff your faces and be happy!
