If you came here for recipes and lifestyle posts then please feel free to skip this part entirely. If however, you have any curiosity about this blog’s history or the creators behind this endeavor then I am flattered beyond words and you may continue to read to your heart’s content. It is, however, ironic that I can be flattered beyond words and yet still here I go! This blog came about when I graduated from University and realized that I don’t want to just let my life pass by. I wanted to grab it by the balls and try new things, avoid working a 9-5, stay in my pajamas all day, or go out in the yard and garden naked if I wanted. I began to brain storm then, how I could change my life to have more freedom.
Then it hit me, I see people on the internet all the time that are able to share helpful information with their community and transform that into their full-time job. Okay now I had a plan, but what could I share with my community that would be worthwhile? That brainstorming session started with promise, then led to several beers, and then led me to the conclusion that I am actually not good at anything in particular. Then after a quick pity fest I pulled myself back up and started thinking what I used the internet for. Which 95% of the time was “how to” posts and the other 5% was the name of an actor I couldn’t think of who was in that one movie, ya know…? My second brainstorming session was a tipsy list of things I liked about blogs and things that drove me nuts. Mostly I realized that I liked things I could understand. I hate finding a cool recipe and then realizing I couldn’t make it because I don’t have a $500 butter churner or that I wasn’t Julia Childs. I remember I was looking at ‘how to garden’ for the first time. The post started out suggesting that ‘one first spreads their compost in their desired field’, then I found myself googling things like “what to do if you don’t have compost” etc. WHY can’t a simple walk through instruction be out there for people who don’t know what they’re doing? That is what I have decided to do, we want to write a “how to” and recipe blog for people who don’t know what they are doing. I am going to assume we are working from scratch here and my greatest hope is that we can be of help to the people out there like me who love trying new things but really don’t have a clue what they are doing.
This Blog is run by two women with Irish tempers. One daughter who is mainly the blogger and one mother who is mainly frustrated. We bring to you mom’s fantastic recipe and cooking tips and SO much tech help, and my subpar writing skills. You’re welcome.
