As we’ve mentioned before, we are two ladies that run this website. On a past weekend this fall we had a Pot of Gold birthday! We decided to go to the Minnesota Cider Festival. Around twelve Hard Cider Breweries from around Minnesota visited the orchard in southern Minnesota. There was live music from local Minnesota bands, and may I mention a phenomenal blues guitar. Luckily we couldn’t have asked for better weather for our adventure. We decided to tour around the historic town of Jordan Minnesota, and ended up gushing over all of the adorable and charming houses. We stopped by a local park where we were treated to this lovely view of the old dam. We had gotten to town early and the Cider Fest didn’t start until later afternoon. We went back to town and browsed antique shops and eventually decided to find a place to get bloodies while we waited. As we were at the restaurant I started laughing over the fact that we were pre-drinking before going to a Cider Fest, I was giggle at the term pre-drinking, thinking I was clever to come up for a name for the activity, when I realized I was way late to that game. So we finished our “pre-game” bloodies and headed out of town toward the orchard. The Cider Fest had around twelve different hard Cider breweries and drew in quite a crowd. I would love to visit the Orchard again when it isn’t so packed, they had hay rides and a petting zoo, not to mention pony rides that I was not adequately dressed for. The old barn housed an amazingly large gift shop that we unfortunately only briefly saw because we chickened out due to the crowds. All in all it was one heck of a show that I would totally go back to! I had never heard of or tried that many variations of hard cider in my life and after a while we decided to grab our favorite one and snag a table to watch the live bands perform. They did not disappoint and we spent the rest of the afternoon taking turns getting cider and watching the sun dip behind the trees while snacking on homemade cheese curds. It. was. glorious.
To end our day we stayed in an adorable B&B on Main Street. In true food blog fashion we walked down the street got greasy Chinese food and retired to watch chick flicks, all of course before we said our good nights parted ways and then I spent the rest of my evening soaking in a clawfoot tub, which I am now convinced I need to own. All in all the Minnesota Cider Fest is an event that occurs every fall here in MN and if you have the opportunity to attend you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for coming on our adventure with us. We hope this is helpful when it comes time to planning your activities for next fall. Are there any great events you wanted to/or were able to attend this fall? Share with us, we love to hear from you and as always have a great weekend!
