One of my favorite summer time grilling foods are jalapeños poppers I really just adore them and could eat a whole batch to myself. Some how the mellow cream cheese and the hot spicy jalapeños combine so perfectly with the taste of the char from the grill. They are crazy tasty and in the long Minnesota winters we start to miss this weekend crowd favorite. This year in order to tide us over until we can be outside with the real thing again we developed a recipe for jalapeños Popper Dip! We are supper excited for you to try it and we know we will be making it a few times this winter.
Okay even though once again the Vikings aren’t a contender for the Super Bowl that doesn’t mean we still won’t provide an awesome SB appetizer recipe for the rest of you. We will be of course petulantly watching the game but the only reason we will be enjoying it will be because we are eating this ridiculously easy and tasty Jalapeños Popper Dip.
Grocery List:
- Light Cream Cheese
- Bacon
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Salt
- jalapeños
- Cayenne
Recipe Tips:
- You can make this as spicy or mild as you want to by altering the cream cheese to jalapeno ration
- This can easily be doubled for a larger gathering
- We recommend using light cream cheese not only because it is a healthier option but it is also a softer cream cheese so you can more easily scoop the dip without breaking your chip or cracker
Our favorite jalapeno poppers turned into an easy to make and eat dip.
- 1 8 oz lite cream cheese
- 12 oz bacon cooked crisp and crumbled
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1-5 jalopenos diced fine
- cayenne pepper
-
Mix all together, form into a ball, sprinkle top with cayenne pepper or smokey paprika. Serve with chips or crackers of choice.
- Can make this as spicy as one wants by increasing the amount of diced jalaopenos
- I like to use the lite-fat cream cheese for dips as it is a softer texture than full fat cream cheese and is easier to “dip” without breaking your cracker or chip
- Recipe is super easy to double for a larger crowd
