Red Beans and Rice with Smokey Turkey

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried red beans pinto beans can also be used
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp greek seasoning see our shop page for the brand we use
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 large smoked turkey legs
  • 6-8 cups water

Instructions

  1. Rinse and beans and add to crock pot. 

  2. Add onion, salt, garlic, greek seasoning, and turkey legs to crock pot

  3. Add enough water to just cover turkey legs. Usually 6-8 cups

  4. Cook on high 6 hours or on low all day until beans are very soft.

  5. Remove turkey leg and remove skin, bones etc.  Add turkey meat back to crock pot in size pieces. Serve over rice. 

Recipe Notes

You could use smoked turkey wings or smoked ham portions with bone instead of smoked turkey legs.
